Training at Battens
Our Aim? Simply to develop excellence.

Be they clients or team members - people are at the heart of Battens and the focus of all that we do.

We understand that training and development is not only absolutely critical to the success of our employees, but also critical to providing an excellent service to our clients. Therefore from day 1 all our new team members at all levels from the Directors to the Admin Assistants will be part of a thorough training and induction programme.

Welcome to Battens!
We know changing jobs can be slightly unsettling to begin with, which is why our inductions are more that just showing you to your desk and signing a few forms. They are tailor made to each individual with balance of focus on the social aspects of starting a new job as well as the more boring but essential technical guide to "how we do things here".

Not just about classroom lectures
Training is not always about sitting in lectures, it takes many forms at Battens from one to one coaching to college tuition; from team discussions to CPD accredited seminars.

We focus on giving you the skills you need to be able to do your job from day 1; from the basics of making the most from the IT systems and software to compliance and financial management.

External Courses
We sponsor various external courses, memberships and accreditations such as CLC and ILEX as well as technical CPD courses to keep you bang up to date with the dynamic legal environment.

To underline our commitment to training and work-life balance we also give up to 10 days study leave for those who are undertaking professional work related qualifications.

Management Development
We are working on our own CPD accredited management development training courses, which are specifically relevant to each stage in your career. Training includes topics such as communication, performance reviews, teamwork, presentation skills and selling your team!

Each course is designed to help develop the skills you need to be really effective in your job and go that little bit further to ensure that our excellent standards and client care levels are maintained.

Succession Planning
We have a clearly defined structure within the Company and wherever possible we promote from within.

Within each team and within each level we have a framework of skills that we expect from each employee. Team members can see how they fit into the overall structure and how they can ultimately assist in the success of the business.

This framework is linked to our annual performance review, which make is very easy to assess where skill gaps occur and how we can best address them. It is also a key instrument in the way we structure our recruitment, training and reward structure.
